Farewell Julie-Anne
MEMBERS of the Moyston community gathered at an afternoon tea in the Moyston Hall on Sunday to say farewell and thank you to Moyston General Store owner, Julie-Anne Rose, who is leaving the business and moving to Western Australia.

Local residents Martin O’Callaghan spoke on behalf of those present, describing the anticipation in the district when residents learnt eight years ago that there was to be a new store owner.
He said there was a massive sight of relief around the community when Julie-Anne arrived and established such a welcoming gathering place for the community.
“You watered and fed us, catered for our events, accommodated out caffeine addiction, and looked after every tradie, truckie, school parent and farmer who dropped in,” he said.
Lydia Jackson presented Julie-Anne with a book of comments written by all those who had valued her presence over the past eight years, which Julie-Anne said she wouldn’t read till she arrived in the west to prevent a tearful journey.
Rosie Nater echoed Martin O’Callaghan’s comments, thanking Julie-Anne for her “big smile and welcoming ways”, and hoping she had the chance to enjoy lots of sleep-ins.
For her part, Julie-Anne thanked the community for initially welcoming her, saying she was pleased to have been able to open and keep the store going, and blessed to have been so warmly embraced by the locals. “Moyston is a special place. You don’t know how wonderful you all are, and I just wanted everyone to know that,” she said.
The Moyston Store is now closed but Julie-Anne assured the community that if any developments arose, she would let them know.
