The Murray Basin Rail Project donated the life saving device to Avoca Community Arts & Gardens, which will reside inside the Gallery.

Gallery Director Hugh Forster said the donation will ensure the defibrillator is available, just in case.

“We are very thankful for this donation as it represents another important addition to the range of facilities provided at the gallery for the benefit of both its visitors and the wider Avoca community,” he said.

“Given the gallery's distant location at the Avoca Railway Station, the ability to offer much early intervention through avoiding  the need to travel to the High Street to access the machines located there, will greatly raise the likelihood of survival from cardiac arrests,” Mr Forster said.

“As the Arts & Gardens Precinct develops over time this device will become an important community tool across both sides of the rail track.”
