Council secures funding to repair Buangor's historic Cobb & Co stables
The Ararat Rural City Council has secured $60,000 in funding to restore the historic Cobb & Co Staging Stables in Buangor.

The Ararat Rural City Council has secured $60,000 in funding to restore the historic Cobb & Co Staging Stables in Buangor.
A beloved 1860s landmark that has served as a hub for community events, the venue sustained water damage during the October 2022 floods.
Proposed repair works to the state heritage-listed site will include replacing damaged guttering, downpipes, and roofing to prevent future water damage from extreme weather events.
The repair works will prioritise safeguarding the site's cultural heritage, improving flood risk management, and supporting community resilience and heritage appreciation.
Ararat Rural City Council mayor Jo Armstrong said the repair project would preserve a piece of Buangor's rich history.

"The Cobb & Co Staging Stables are an iconic landmark in Buangor," Cr Armstrong said.
"This restoration project will ensure that this valuable historical asset and important piece of our local heritage is preserved for the long-term enjoyment of the community."
Up to $60,000 in funding from the State Government's Disaster Recovery Heritage Grants Program will support the project.
Launched last year, the grant program aims to help repair and restore heritage sites impacted by extreme weather events, particularly small community organisations requiring more significant support.
