Bulls aim for finals
Beaufort Bulls have finals in their sight and eye victory against bottom-of-the-table Clunes when the Maryborough and District Cricket Association’s two-day format begins tomorrow.
Currently sitting in fourth place on three wins, equal with Carisbrook, an outright win will set a launching pad for the Bulls to play finals.
Bulls captain Brandon Walsh said that while the season has gone well, there is room for improvement.
“I would give us a seven out of ten at the moment, with availability the thing that is hurting us,” he said.
“It hasn’t been a bad season, but we have dropped a game we shouldn’t have dropped, and there is room for improvement, but it hasn’t been too bad.
“We have improved in all areas, especially fielding and are competitive in most games. If you look at the majority of games we take something out of, it’s been that we have been in the game and little moments have let us down.”
“We are in the four, so the number one goal is to make finals and then hopefully win a final and make a grand final, which is the ultimate goal.
Walsh said the two-day format suits their style of play.
“My opinion, for me personally, is that I am a better two-day player, and likewise with a few other players, particularly the older blokes,” he said.
“With our skills and spin bowling, it is beneficial for us to be playing two-day cricket.
