Horsham's evergreen trainer-jockey combination of Paul Preusker and Dean Yendall put on another masterclass over the weekend, this time winning the Seppelt Great Western Cup with Brawl.

The veteran silk sat the seven-year-old gelding back for much of the 1950m race, letting Alana Kelly on Kokonotsu ($4) lead the pack.

As the pack pulled out from the last bend, Yendall made his move.

Coming from seventh place with 800m to go, Yendall pushed the horse out wide and outran frontrunner Kokonotsu by half a length.

It was Brawl's first win since July 1, 2023, and Yendall's first Great Western Cup since 2001.

The Horsham jockey also won the Ian Kilpatrick Memorial Maiden Plate with firm favourite Bo Cougar ($1.28).

Kelly did not go home emptyhanded, winning four races across the eight-race meet, including the 1600m Grampians Estate Handicap with Simon Gebert's Thunder Park ($7.50).

Stawell's Linda Meech was the only other winning jockey on the day, including the Best's Eric Thomson Memorial Trophy with Andrew Bobins Rich Champagne ($3.20).
