Biggest Morning Tea raises funds for cancer support
ARARAT Neighbourhood House hosted its Biggest Morning Tea on Wednesday, raising $383.10 for cancer support services.
The event marked the third consecutive year the neighbourhood house has taken part in the national fundraiser, bringing the community together over tea, coffee and homemade treats for an important cause.
Manager Teli Kaur said the initiative continued to receive strong local support.
“This is an absolutely amazing initiative, and we will continue,” she said.
“This year we knew it was going to be really good because we had good attendance.”
Ms Kaur said the fundraiser resonated with many people in the community.
“It’s for a good cause that’s close to everyone,” she said.
“Everyone knows how it feels, and everyone is very generous. It’s a great cause to help people who are suffering in Australia, wherever they are.”
According to Cancer Council Australia, an estimated 88 per cent of cancers diagnosed in 2025 will occur in people aged 50 or older, while cancer incidence rates among younger Australians are also increasing.
Cancer is expected to account for around three in every 10 deaths in Australia this year.
