Beaufort rugged up for winter twilight market
There was a real sense of winter magic in the air as locals wrapped themselves up in coats, scarves and beanies to enjoy the inaugural Beaufort Winter Twilight Market last Friday evening at the Memorial Gardens.
While the temperature certainly reminded everyone it was the middle of winter, the weather could not have been kinder. The evening was beautifully still with no rain and barely a breath of wind, creating a crisp, refreshing chill that added to the charm rather than detracted from it.
Visitors wandered among the market stalls, discovering handcrafted gifts, local produce including wine and fruit and vegetables along with unique treasures while warming themselves with an impressive selection of delicious food. Fragrant soups from the Beaufort CWA and food trucks, hot donuts, mulled wine and a tempting array of hot food and a barbeque ensured there was something to satisfy every appetite and keep the winter cold at bay.
The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, with families, friends and visitors taking the opportunity to catch up, browse the stalls and enjoy one of Beaufort's growing community events.
The market, organised by the Pyrenees Community House, whose team worked tirelessly to bring the event to life. Reflecting on the evening's success, they summed it up perfectly:
"Thanks Beaufort for coming out to our first outdoors Winter Market. There were some great stalls, incredible food and a wonderful atmosphere. We raise a glass of mulled wine to thank you for rugging up and turning out!"
The inaugural Winter Twilight Market proved that a little cold weather is no obstacle when a community comes together. Judging by the smiling faces and bustling atmosphere, Beaufort has embraced a new winter tradition that is sure to warm hearts for years to come.
