Anh Do brings The Happiest Refugee to Stawell
ANH Do is coming to Stawell, and if his schedule is anything to go by, he is doing so at the height of a career that shows no sign of slowing. Do will take to the stage at the Stawell Entertainment Centre with The Happiest Refugee Live! — the stage adaptation of his award-winning memoir.

The show has been performed at countless venues across Australia since it first premiered and continues to draw strong audiences nationwide.
The Stawell Times-News sought an interview with Do ahead of the performance, but his management advised that he was unavailable due to “a large filming commitment” in the lead-up to the Stawell show.
It is a telling sign of just how busy he remains, more than a decade after The Happiest Refugee was first published.
Do’s story is one many Australians feel they already know, yet it continues to resonate.
Arriving in Australia as a three-year-old refugee from Vietnam after a perilous boat journey, he went on to build a career spanning comedy, acting, writing, television and art.
His memoir is funny, confronting and deeply humane, and struck a chord with readers when it was released, earning major literary awards.
The live show builds on that foundation, blending personal history with humour, gratitude and reflection. Audiences can expect plenty of laughter, but also moments of quiet insight about family, resilience and what it means to belong.
Away from the stage, Do’s profile has only expanded. He remains a familiar face on television through projects such as Anh’s Brush with Fame, while his children’s books have introduced a new generation to his storytelling voice.
For Stawell audiences, however, the opportunity is straightforward.
This is a chance to see one of Australia’s most recognisable performers live, telling the story that helped shape his career and, for many, broadened the national conversation.
Anh Do - The Happiest Refugee Live! — comes to Stawell Entertainment Centre on Thursday, March 5.
Tickets are available through the Stawell Entertainment Centre box office and online.
