St Arnaud local Bianca Hendry has won a prestigious national scholarship to attend the University of the South Pacific in Fiji in 2022.

The scholarship is provided under the Australian Government's New Colombo Plan (NCP), which aims to lift knowledge of the Indo-Pacific in Australia by supporting undergraduates to study and undertake internships in the region.
The Federation university student, who is currently studying a Bachelor of Sports Management/Bachelor of Business said the scholarship will enable her to grow her leadership skills and provide new career opportunities.
"This scholarship will change the way I look at the world," Bianca said.
"It will open a lot of doors for me that I never thought possible.
"The experiences I gain will not only improve my career opportunities, but also foster important connections for Australia in the Indo-Pacific region."

It will be the 20-year-old's first time overseas and the opportunity is already causing her to rethink her career choices.
"The overseas experience will allow me to explore another country and work with a diverse range of professionals that will teach me about culture, business customs and practices," Bianca said.
Global Professional School Dean, associate professor Jason Giri said he was "very proud" that Bianca was chosen for the prestigious national scholarship.

"We are always on the lookout for opportunities to build the skills and experience of our students and the New Colombo Plan scholarship is the perfect fit for Bianca," he said.
"Our Global Professional School coordinates study abroad and exchange programs, providing opportunities for students to add a global experience to their degree."
Bianca thanked Federation's Global Professional School for encouraging her to apply for the scholarship valued at up to $26,500 and for supporting her with the application.
Bianca has also been shortlisted for an internship with toy company Mattel in either China or Indonesia.
