The Ararat Show Society has confirmed they will apply for financial assistance as part of the Federal Government's Supporting Agricultural Shows and Field Days program.
The program was introduced to ensure agricultural shows can see off COVID-19 and continue contributing to local communities post the coronavirus pandemic.
The Federal Government provided $34.5 million under round one of the program to 378 show societies and field day organisers who were forced to cancel in 2020.
Ararat Show Society president Gwenda Allgood said the committee would continue to try to improve the show.
"We are going to keep our fingers crossed and keep applying for grants to have a bigger and a better show next year," she said.
"We are going to have everything under control next year, any funding we receive will help us create the best possible show we can."
Cr Allgood said she "can't wait" for the Ararat Show to return in 2022.
"The show should be back as normal next year, we all can't wait." she said.
Cr Allgood said although planning for next year's event hasn't started, she was able to confirm The Mik Maks would be performing at next year's event.
"As soon as we can, we will meet again to begin preparations for next year's show," she said.
"What we do have in the pipeline and we have for some while is The Mick Macks.
"We are very pleased about that; we think they will be a big drawcard for us in Ararat, being local men and for the kids.
"We had them booked before all of these disasters happened, it is going to be great for Ararat."

Cr Allgood said all the committee is yet to hear from the carnival people regarding their availability for the show.
"All we are really concerned about is the carnival people," she said.
"We don't really know how they are travelling at the moment because we haven't heard from anybody.
"I hope the government gives them a hand because it is going to be vital for all of the country's shows.
"They basically follow a circuit, they normally go to Stawell on the Saturday and then us (Ararat) on the Sunday, we are hoping that will be able to continue."
Cr Allgood said she anticipates the show to run on the last Sunday of October in 2022.
"Hopefully it will run at the same time next year," she said.
"Whether we have it on the last Sunday in October like we always have will be up to the powers to be to let us know.
"All of the country shows work together as much as we can.
"We all take our turn when it comes around, we are hoping it will continue and everyone continues to support each other."
