Ararat will now have one of two new regional offices for the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation.
Four inspectors will be based at the hub to to monitor licensed venues and ensure they follow the law across a large segment of Victoria’s west, including Ballarat and Horsham.
Ms Kairouz said the hub would provide greater scrutiny of the region’s venues.
“This is about ensuring that venues get properly inspected, this is about extra jobs in this great region,” she said.
Commission chief executive Catherine Myers said having staff in the region would improve relations with the hospitality industry.
Ararat’s new hub was announced in September.
