He finished with 38 points to claim a narrow one-shot win ahead of Robert Harricks.
Roger Pearse claimed the B Grade honours with 46 points, ahead of Hans Holz who was three shots further back.
The C Grade was topped by Richard Tucker ahead of Brent Searle.
Holz, Allister Williamson, Gary Stafford, Ken Hurnall, Geoff White, Rob Richardson and Harricks all claimed nearest the pin awards during the round.
The chicken run event only had four chickens awarded on Thursday.
Trevor Ellgood, Merv Fox, Marty Schoo and Searle all took home the big prize after the round.
A single v par event is scheduled to be played at the club on Saturday.
With plenty of new names involved this week, it could be another big round of golf coming up this week at the club.
