The graduate program is designed to support paramedics transition from university to the workforce. Like all paramedics, they will continue training through their careers to ensure they’re equipped with the latest up-to-date lifesaving interventions.
New paramedics have been deployed where they are most needed, including 16 in regional Victoria. This is part of a state government push to ensure more rural and regional areas have access to an ambulance in an emergency.
Ballarat paramedics are responding faster than before, according to performance data released this month, with 87.9 per cent of code one emergencies reached inside the 15 minute target from call-outs.
The only faster responses can be found in inner-Melbourne. The state average show 81.4 per cent of code one call-outs reached within 15 minutes.
Improved responses have largely been boosted from a revised triage model.
