The new course is designed to give golfers the buzz of a full round of golf while cutting down on the time required to play.
Players have already tested it out with the club is looking to expand it if it is successful to put in permanent par three markers across all 18 holes.
Club manager Tim Cronin said it coincided with a change of approach from the club to try and make it easier for players to squeeze in some golf as lives get busier.
“We think players can be done in around an hour or an hour and a half which is sometimes all people have available at a certain time,” he said.
“It is part of a re-branding of sorts for the club with a new membership pricing structure also implemented recently.”
Cronin said it was important to try and engage new people to join the club with barefoot bowls and other social events complimenting the new shorter golf course in achieving this.
“The average age of our members is well above 50, so we need to look at how to try and get some of the younger people involved,” he said.
“These sorts of things of things are part of trying to do that.”
Cronin said the club is also looking at increasing its social footprint in Ararat by hosting more events for people to come and try both golf and bowls in a friendly environment.
“We are looking at having more social events, particularly in the summer months,” he said.
