Five players returned the best score of the day of 38 points, necessitating count backs in both division one and division two to determine the winners of the event..
Lois Dunne won a countback to push Barb Gow to runner-up in first division while Nola Pugh and Therese Jess were relegated to second and third places respectively behind division two winner Lyn Faneco, courtesy of the second count back.
There was plenty of competition between the avid golfers for the nearest the pin awards as well.
Nola Mahoney picked up two awards with her accurate drives across the 18-hole round to lead the way.
The others were won by Marg Peoples, Gayle Dadswell and Sally Philip to show how even the competition was on the day.
The stableford event on Saturday was taken out by Helen Tucker with an excellent round to finish with 35 points.
Tucker had to survive a count back from both Barb Mannix and Chris Dohnt who also picked up 35 points in order to be named the winner.
Marg Lardner was nearest the pin on the 16th hole with an impressive approach shot.
An increased field of players contested the nine-hole stableford on Monday and it showed in the final event results.
This event also went down to the wire in what proved to be the start of a common trend for the week.
Another countback was needed to determine Judy Edwards as the winner in front of Jess, after both players finished with 22 points.
Jess must be considered the unluckiest player of the week after losing two events on countback but should be proud of her efforts on the course during the multiple events.
The main action next week will be a two person Ambrose event scheduled for Wednesday.
There will be a draw for partners after all names are in to decide the pairs ahead of the event’s tee-off in the morning.
Warm conditions are again expected for the weekend with a top temperature of 30 forecast for Saturday, following two 40 degree days to end the working week.
The current weather forecast is unlikely to change the scheduled tee-off time of the event.
