The teams are yet to be finalised as yet but Simon Katich and Jason Gillespie were amongst the former cricket greats who took part in the previous match in South Australia last year.
The match will coincide with a two and a half day visit from the association, with former players to visit schools in the region to conduct school clinics as well as a sportsmen's night to raise funds for local clubs.
The match is part of an initiative from the Australian Cricket Association to take the game to regional areas of Australia.
The association’s general manager of cricket operations and membership Brendan Drew said they try to do two tours at a time with the group with Morwell also set to host a match a few days later.
“We try and share it around, two years we did Sale and Yarrawonga so we try and give each of the regions a chance to be involved,” he said.
“We will have our masters running around the whole time, doing as many school clinics as we can fit in, while engaging the all-abilities team and doing the sportsmen’s night as well, so it is an action packed couple of days planned.”
Mr Drew said the visit is aimed to support the current clubs and association while trying to attract new people to the game.
“We want to hopefully bring new people to cricket, particularly with our school clinics where some people may not know much about the sport,” he said.
“Sometimes some regions don’t have great facilities, so it is pleasing to see Alexandra Oval looking great.”
Mr Drew said the masters lineup will try and bring players from different generations to entice people of all ages to the game.
“We have just confirmed it will be free entry which is great,” he said.
“It means people can have international players of yesteryear right in their backyard and they can access them for free.”
The match is set for Friday February 23 with an evening start time yet to be confirmed.
