Kindred started her career at the Lions before spending a couple of years at Navarre and following two years out of the game, has returned to the club as coach of the senior side.
Kindred said the time was right to return to Great Western for the 2018 season.
“I have been off for a couple of years with injury and it was a nice idea to come back home to the club,” she said.
“The club came and approached me about the coaching role and it just seemed like the time was right to return.”
Kindred has had significant coaching experience, helping lead the Navarre B Grade team to a premiership.
She said that after a couple of arthroscopes on her knee and experiencing a change of scenery, the former A Grade best and fairest wanted to repay the club by helping in its time of need.
“Obviously Great Western is home, I would love to stay there now and help them out,” she said.
“It would be really sad to see my home club folding, because they don’t have the numbers to field a team.”

Kindred will not only bring a wealth of experience back to the club but has also got some potential recruits lined up for the team.
“I have had an eye on some players that I will try and bring across to the club that I have seen,” she said.
“We have quite a lot of junior players out there, so I am probably focusing on finding some older more experienced players that can support the younger players on the court and during training.”
The Lions did not field a team in the A Grade competition in 2017 and struggled in games during the 2016 season but the new coach is hopeful of a strong season in its return to the senior competition.
“We have been doing preseason training since the start of November and we have had some really good numbers show up at the sessions which is great,” she said.
“Obviously a few wins would be nice but our main focus is to get a group of girls together who are committed and passionate and who want to be competitive on the court and build a really strong year of results.”
The club is still looking for players that are interested in joining the club ahead of the new season.
Kindred said it will be a special moment when the team takes to the court at the start of the season but there is still some work to do.
“We are trying to get it out there that the club is serious and we will take on any support we can get from the community," she said.
For anybody interested, training sessions are at Great Western on Thursday nights, starting at 6pm.
The 2018 netball association season fixture is still yet to be finalised but round one matches are likely to be played in early April.
