NBN company representatives will be visiting Ararat on January 17 to speak with members of the community about the rollout of the broadband access network in the region.
Ararat’s session will from 9am-12pm in Ritchies IGA Supermarket carpark at 58-66 Vincent Street, Ararat
The sessions will also provide information about what residents and businesses should consider before they order an NBN plan from a phone or internet provider.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to get a real-life experience of the benefits of the NBN SkyMuster satellite service via the Sky Muster truck.
The custom-made vehicle carries a portable satellite antenna that allows visitors to get hands-on with services over the NBN access network via a Wi-Fi hotspot powered by the SkyMuster service.
Construction activities are expected to commence in the coming months to connect about 3400 homes and businesses in parts of Ararat to the NBN access network.
The NBN company expected Ararat fixed-line customers would be able to order an NBN-powered plan from a phone or internet provider starting in September.
More than 1000 premises within Ararat Rural City are already able to access wireless NBN.
Construction activities are underway in Stawell to connect about 3000 homes and businesses to the nbn broadband access network, with NBN-powered plans available from the middle of the year.
Many premises in the wider surroundings are eligible to connect to retail services on the NBN network through the Sky Muster satellite service which has been available from retailers to regional and remote Australians since April last year.
NBN head of local Victoria and Tasmania, Ebony Aitken said the community information sessions are part of the wholesale internet provider’s commitment to improving customer experience on the network for regional and remote Australia.
“The rollout of the NBN is one of the biggest transformations to Australia’s telecommunications industry to ever occur – it represents significant change for consumers and businesses as they make the move to the new network,” she said.
“We are committed to providing answers to the questions residents and businesses want to know about the NBN and the factors which influence the speed of their internet service.
“We encourage members of the community to attend and ask any questions they may have.
“Although retail service providers should always be the first point of contact for any resident or business, the NBN local team is dedicated to working with local stakeholders to help ensure local problems are identified early and addressed.”
