The council has attributed the deterioration to increased heavy vehicle movements associated with harvest and the traffic detours associated with the VicRoads bridgeworks at Rossbridge.
The bridges over the Hopkins River on Mortlake-Ararat Road are due to reopen this month after being closed since September 22.
VicRoads contracted Downer to replace the two bridges over the Hopkins River and Hopkins River Valley with one bridge and an embankment.
The bridges were constructed in 1955 and the Mortlake-Ararat road carries 700 vehicles per day, over 30 per cent being heavy vehicles.
Ararat Rural City’s Works Department is currently undertaking digout and patching repairs along Mount William Road, Delacombe Way, Tatyoon North Road and Tatyoon Road.
Ararat Rural City has asked that drivers take care on these roads until works are complete.
Any driver that are aware of any other areas of failure, or have any other inquiries can contact Ararat Rural City Customer Service on 5355 0200.
