“We will be re-igniting small patches within the recent Madex Track (Ararat Hills Regional Park) burn perimeter, on Friday afternoon,” A Forest fire management statement said.
“Completion is expected on Friday, with crews actively patrolling the area over the weekend.
“Smoke may be visible from Western Highway, about two kilometres north-west of Ararat.
“Thank you for your understanding while we complete this important work.”
The planned burn area is about 50 hectares in size.
Firefighters were called to the same area to bring a small bushfire under control about three kilometres north-west of Ararat on Wednesday afternoon.
The fire was declared under control at 5.15pm, about two hours after it was first reported.
A Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning spokesperson said the fire ignited from fuel remaining behind from a planned burn at McDonald Park this month.
