The league met recently and decided due to a decline in interest from players and clubs that it was not worthwhile going ahead with the match in the forthcoming season.
League chairman John Box said it was not a decision made lightly.
“The board is disappointed the league is not involved but you need the clubs’ support for it to succeed, at the moment it is not there,” he said.
The Mininera league team was coached by Penshurst’s Justin Eales this season and faced South West in May, losing by 31 points.
A decision has not been finalised regarding whether the players will still have a bye that weekend or if games will be fixtured across the weekend.
“We are still working on the fixture, so once that is finalised we will be able to let everyone know,” Box said.
The decision comes, as numbers of players interested in representing the league has decreased over recent years.
Eales said earlier this year he had doubts over the future of Interleague matches.
“It’s getting harder and harder to get a team together,” he said. “Some of them are interested in keeping fit for club football and not getting hurt playing Interleague footy.”
It remains to be seen whether the change will be permanent with the league to re-assess the situation in 12 months, going into the 2019 season. The full 2018 season fixture will be released in the coming weeks.
