Racing club pperations manager Mark Percival said pre-booked numbers had had a huge increase on the previous year’s meet.
“Traditionally we haven’t received a lot of online bookings but that is starting to change more and more,” he said.
Percival said a highlight of the meet was seeing the Dane Smith trained Our Dexter win the Todd Duns Memorial race.
“It’s always good to see a local trainer get up with one of their favourite horses,” he said.
“Dane was extremely proud of that win.”
The family atmosphere of the meeting was prominent throughout the day.
It is something that the club prides itself on.
“We get such great support from the committee and our sponsors which allows us to innovate, do some thing differently and ensure we have meeting that are what country racing should be,” Percival said.
“We want Stawell to be where families race.”
