The Ararat Swimming Club will start its Wimmera District 12 swimming season with the first meet of the season at Warracknabeal on Saturday.

The club has similar numbers to the 2016-17 season with some of the junior swimmings competing at Ballarat top five meets as well as competing in Melbourne during winter.
Ainsley Cameron has stepped down as club president with Stacey Dale taking on the vice presidency with assistance from Cameron when needed.
The former president said there was a feeling of nervous excitement around the club.
“We have five junior excellence award winners at the club,” she said.
“Billie Donnan, Eoughan Purser, Asha Dale, Ivana Donnan, Jack Cameron got the awards from Swimming Australia after strong performances at the Wimmera meets during the 2016-17 season.”
The Water Rats will again host its own district 12 meet at the Ararat Outdoor Pool in February.
