“It is an offence to go through the boom gates when they are moving and the lights are flashing,” Horsham Sergeant Adam Bronca said.
“People have been going through them when they get stuck.
“If the boom gates are going down you have to divert.”
There have been several cases over the years in the Wimmera where drivers have blatantly ignored the rules regarding train lines and the train crossings.
A truck driver grew impatient with boom gates and a train in Ararat near Birdwood Avenue in February 2016.
A Wimmera driver was outraged in November 2015 when he witnessed motorists disobeying boom gates at a level crossing at Dooen, it was caught on video.
The driver described the scene as a disaster waiting to happen.
Sergeant Bronca said to be mindful it was an offence to disobey boom gates.
“Whilst the emergency lights are on, you need to be stationary… just some food for thought,” he said.
