It comes after Hamilton signed his first World Series contract with Orica Scott in recent months.
The talented 21-year-old has been racing for under-23 development team Mitchelton Scott and has spent most of his time racing in Europe over the past two years.
Hamilton said it was an honour to be nominated for the award.
“It is always pretty cool to be nominated, you do not really expect it but it is a nice surprise when it happens,” he said.

“There is consistency there which is big but things like Oceania championship wins and other podium finishes this year that has contributed to such a strong year which is pleasing.”
Hamilton said he has some stiff competition with the other nominees deserved winners after strong years.
“There are some really high quality young riders who have also been nominated, everyone who has raced for Australia this year deserved to be nominated, so it is humbling to be among the group,” he said.
The award winners will be announced on Friday night.
