SES Duty officer Jenny Rooke said the previous boat was past its used by date.
“It was very old and it was time to receive a brand new one,” she said.
“It means that this boat is now more reliable and more suitable for our type of work.”
The addition comes only weeks before the summer months start.
“More people will be out on the region’s lakes, so it is nice to know we have this boat ready for anybody that needs help,” Ms Rooke said.
“This is a timely reminder to make sure you are boating safely this summer.”
Ms Rooke said one of the more serious water rescues the SES boat had attended recently was the drowning of a man, 26, at Lake Bellfield in December last year.
“We’ll respond to drowning incidents, overturned boats, injuries on the water, but hopefully that doesn’t happen and we wish everyone a safe summer.”
