The visitors got off to a strong start, winning three of the four ladies doubles to take an early lead before going on to dominate the men’s doubles and win all four sets to put the match beyond reach.
Willaura tried to reverse the result in the mixed section but was unable to do any significant damage, as Mininera finished with a comfortable 11 sets to one victory to open the season.
The other match was a much more competitive result with Skipton holding on in a tense final few sets to claim the victory against Yalla-Y-Poora.
Skipton won all three men’s sets to take an early lead before the visitors responded to split the ladies sets 2-2 meaning the mixed doubles was where the match would be won.
It was again split 2-2 meaning Skipton won seven sets to five. Tatyoon had a bye in round one.
