The washout ensured Carey Covers finished the winter season as premiers after a consistent season on the tennis court.
They finished ahead of Christian's Bus Company and Bendigo Bank on percentage only which shows how close it was.
The winning team of Ross McGregor, Wayne Gason, Craig Newson and Mark Stevens beat both Christian’s and Bendigo Bank but lost what proved to be their last match of the season against Embroidability.
Had the rain held off, it would have made for an interesting final round with so much at stake for the three teams.
The final ladder had Carey Covers, Christians and Bendigo Bank all locked on 34 points.
Four points further back was Signtek in fourth position while there was a logjam further down the ladder with a four way tie on points.
Fix IT, ChemMart, Ararat Medical Clinic, Embroidability all finished the season on 28 points
AutoPro finished on 24 points, two clear of AME in tenth spot on the ladder.
Blizzards’ Optometrists finished at the bottom of the ladder with 20 points and will be hoping to bounce back up the ladder next season.
The summer competition begins on October 18 with teams expecting some changes to the lineups.
Seven players are unavailable for the upcoming season, including Ben McInnes who will be kept busy preparing for his exams.
McInnes is one of a number of young players who has played throughout his schooling and has shown development and improvement on the court.
Farming demands have taken out Kelvin Donnan, Andy Tucker and Charlie de Fegely for the upcoming season while Shannon McGrath and Wayne Gason have succumbed to injury and are unlikely to play a part next season, at least in the early rounds of the competition.
There will be some familiar faces that are set to come back into the fold with Mike Connellan, Geoff White, John Hannett and Peter Matthews set to fill some of the available spots while Nick Pitaro, Bruce Ahchow, Mark Rodney, Genesis Rameka and Bill Kilpatrick will also take to the court for the summer season of tennis.
The new season will have 12 teams vying for the title with two teams having a bye each week, leaving five matches to be played each round.
There are still vacancies for any interested players who with to join in the action.
Interested players can contact Rick Thomas on 0407 857 378 to express interest or to seek further information on getting involved.
