It was another good season for the club as four out of its five senior teams made it to grand finals for the second season in a row.
Netball coach Claire Drum was recognised as the club person of the year.
Burras president Andy Delahunty said it was the first time the club had given the award to one of its coaches.
“Claire had been working overseas for a number of years,” he said. “We’ve wanted to be able to have her back at the club for some time and she has done a wonderful job. She is so dedicated to what she does coaching both the A and B Grade sides.”
Club secretary, and AFL Wimmera-Mallee administrator of the year, Tony Baker received one of three life memberships handed out by the club on the night. David Byrne was made a life member after playing his 200th game during the season, while Peter Haney’s long involvement over a 20 year period saw him given the night’s third life membership.
“It’s fantastic to be able to give something to do that give so much to the club,” Delahunty said.
Kade Petering was the won the club’s senior best and fairest award from John and Kieran Delahunty.
“It was such a close count and it’s great for Kade to have won that award,” president Delahunty said. “He’s only 22 games and he’s already played 118 senior games, we missed his impact in finals.”
Stef Cooper won the A Grade best and fairest award ahead of Stevie Bibby and Kirby Knight.
