It will be the second show to be held in the new Pomonal Hall and this year the hall gardens will be beautifully landscaped with native plants.

The show will be held from 9.30am-5pm on the Saturday and 10am-4pm on the Sunday.

Over 300 beautiful native flowers will be on display and they will all be named so picking favourites and writing wish lists will be easy to do.

The featured plant family this year will be the Rutaceae family so lots of popular genera like Correas, Boronias, Philothecas, native citrus and Diplolaenas will take centre stage.

Presented by the Australian Plants Society Grampians Group, the show is created over 2 days by an enthusiastic band of members with flowers picked from private gardens in Pomonal, Ararat, Stawell and Dunkeld.

The  Grampians Group members have been having fun with the hall layout this year so visitor can expect something special.

There will also be thousands of native plants for sale, botany, gardening and natural history books for sale and refreshments available.

Entry is $5 for adults and children are always free.

When guests pay a $5 entry fee, they will get a map and directions to the gardens and they are all open from 11.00am on both days.

All three gardens are within 1.5 kilometres of the Pomonal Native Flower Show which will be held at the Pomonal Hall.

The first garden is an exciting 3.5 acre adventure with dry creek beds, water features, ponds, reproduction old sheds, winding paths, aviaries, an outdoor shower and even a ‘Cant’, a sculpture made from recycled tin cans.

The second garden is a beautifully laid out gentle ramble through wonderful established Grevilleas, Banksias and ornamental Eucalypts, kangaroo paws and more.

The third newly established garden shows a fabulous display of rare and spectacular natives and a brand new, extensively landscaped large water feature, with great ideas that everyone can reproduce at home.

The flower show and the open gardens will take all day so guests have been urged to set aside plenty of time.

Organisers said there’s one more Pomonal garden that’s definitely worth a visit and it’s always open.

Pomonal’s garden at the general store has been planted only with Grampians species, called Jane’s garden, after Jane Williams, a founder of the Grampians Group.
