Languages co-ordinator Jeni Allen said the students were excited to spend 18 days exploring the country.
“The kids are really pumped. They can’t wait to meet up with their host brothers and sisters from Matsudo International High School,” she said.
Ms Allen said the itinerary was filled with many cultural experiences.
“We are visiting a theme park set in the samurai and ninja eras and a Hiroshima where we will get first-hand experience on subjects we have learned in the classroom,” she said.
“The students will spend days shopping and sightseeing in Tokyo, exploring Osaka and Kyoto and visiting Disneyland.”
Year 11 student Tarnee Arch said she was most excited to see her friends.
She said the experience was a great opportunity to explore Japan and develop her language skills.
The students left Horsham on Saturday and will return on Monday, October 9.
