Two Holy Trinity Lutheran School human-powered vehicle teams will compete at the Murray Bridge Pedal Prix for the first time.
Teacher Matt McLoughlin said the 24-hour race was the final round of the UniSA Australian HPV Super Series.
About 200 teams with 3200 competitors and thousands of spectators will take part in the event.
“Most of the kids are heading over today so we can do a practice session,” he said.
“They’ll have an hour and a half of riding around the track to get used to it, and the fastest lap times are allocated the highest positions on the grid.
“The race starts at noon on Saturday.”
The schools has a year seven team and a year 10 team competing.
Mr McLoughlin said students were excited to compete.
“There's also some nerves going round as they've started to look at video footage of the track from past races and get geared up for what’s to come,” he said.
“They’re also looking forward to competing for the series championship as well.
“The year seven team is second in the championship going into this event.
“They are one point behind the leaders.”
Mr McLoughlin said people could watch a live stream of the race at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skVDds6uxjY.
