The Warriors won two games and drew one this year, but coach Andrew Bach said there were more important things than wins and losses this year.

“I thought it was quite a successful year from our end,” he said.

“Everyone embraced it, especially the girls.

“We didn’t have much time to prepare so I am really happy with how the year panned out.”

Bach said the team provides another avenue for young girls to keep fit and active.

“You get girls from all walks of life in the team. Some only ever played netball and some have never played sport,” he said.

“There are a lot of young girls out there that like the game of footy so it is great to give them the opportunity to give it a go.”

The Warriors finished sixth in the eight-game inaugural season of the league.

Bach said the development made by the girls in such a short amount of time was amazing to see.

“They improved a hell of a lot,” he said.

“To be able to mark, kick and handball a football with confidence is fantastic. A lot of the girls were unable to do so at the start of the season.

“The girls came together as a team and worked hard to learn the skills of football.”

The Warriors are likely to remain in the same league next season.

Bach said he believes more club’s from around Stawell and the region will begin to enter female football teams. 

“I think female football will continue to grow,” he said.
