Both sides have finals experience with the Magpies runners up last season and the Demons premiers in 2015.
They only played the one home and away game and the Demons ran out 14 point winners in a game most likely never to be forgotten.
The qualifying final was their only meeting against the Magpies who ran out 17 point winners to advance into the second semi-final.
If selections go on past results, this grand final is looking to be one of the tightest grand finals of the decade.
Good luck to both sides.
Football requires great determination, courage and talent and Penshurst’s under 16.5 player Jacob Mibus has all of these attributes .
Mibus plays the game having an artificial part of the leg below his knee, he is to be admired in playing the game he loves and has great talent.
It has been a big three years in the life of Demon Michael Lockyer, the 2017 WJ Lewis medallist.
This past week, he was best man in the preliminary final and got his team through to a grand final, and had an addition to his family with a newborn daughter along with the prestigious medal.
Lockyer in the last three years was a 2015 premiership player with the Demons, receiving the J.A Knight and Victorian Country Football League Medals, being judged best on ground along with being runner up in the Lewis Medal in both 2015 and 2016.
After the presentation of the 2015 medals, he travelled to Ballarat to play in the regional soccer grand final that night with Forest Rangers who duly won, another premiership medal for the talented player.
For the Magpies to win, he is the player to be nullified or he may repeat his 40 odd possessions obtained in last weeks game and get Lismore-Derrinallum over the line in the season decider.
The reserves best and fairest award was also presented with Wickliffe-Lake Bolac’s Jhye Kenna winning the D.J Martin medal.
Kenna won by a massive 10 votes in a runaway victory.
The under-16.5 John Box best and fairest medal was won by Moyston-Willaura’s Aaron Byron with 35 votes.
Byron also won the Goal Kicking with 101 goals in a fantastic effort from the junior player.
The guest speaker Murray Knight spoke on the value of country footy and the requirements of players having strong commitment to the game to obtain a winning position.
The speech was enjoyed by everyone.
Tips: Seniors – Wickliffe-Lake Bolac v Lismore-Derrinallum, Reserves – SMW Rovers v Glenthompson-Dunkeld, Under-16.5 Hawkesdale-Macarthur v Penshurst.
