The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe weather warning for parts of the region on Thursday as a vigorous westerly airflow persisted across large parts of the state.
Strong winds started to lash the region on Thursday afternoon, and followed intermittent rain in many areas during the day.
Wind gusts reached 100km/h at Mt William in the Grampians on Wednesday.
The State Emergency Service advises people to:
- Move vehicles undercover or away from trees;
- Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony;
- Keep clear of fallen power lines.
