I am such a sucker sometimes. I’ve just finished cleaning up dog sick.

And to be honest, I’m feeling pretty flat about it.
The girls were absolutely determined that our dog Buster would be fabulous in the role of Rufus in Legally Blonde, the Horsham College musical this year.
Deep down I knew that it would just mean lots more work for me.
But I went along with the youngest, pretending to believe her pleas of, “I’ll bath and groom him,” and “I’ll mind him at rehearsals.”
Of course, I ended up bathing him, trimming his toe hair and minding him at the first rehearsal.
At which he was sick, because he was pulling so hard on his lead that it nearly strangled him.
He was straining to get to the real dog star of the show; Jasper plays the lead canine Bruiser, to sniff his bottom.
How embarrassing.
Now, my best winter overcoat is completely covered in dog fur because I had to hold Buster on my lap.
I’m an animal lover, but I’m also a clean freak, so the fur thing is just not working for me. Also, I love to bake, so I hate the thought of animal hair making it into my food.
So my coat is booked in for cleaning – actually the whole outfit I wore is quarantined – and I wiped up Buster’s sick with his own bandana.
It was a cute little bandana I bought him to wear to his first big meeting with fellow cast members.
I put that neck tie straight in the bin – there is a time for everything.
I got Buster a couple of other cute little outfits to wear for photos in his portfolio, a smart winter jacket and fun little unicorn costume.
Of course, you always need a Christmas shot in your portfolio.
So he chewed the pom-pom off a Santa hat while I snapped away.
Yes, crazy lady, I know.
Sometimes I do wonder what on earth I am doing.
Kind of like when I wake from a momentary lapse of concentration and find myself half-way through a block of chocolate.
Except in this case I become aware of the wacky projects around.
Including a draft of my dog’s biography for the school production program.
