Premier Daniel Andrews announced the money for Wimmera Mallee Tourism while at Sheep Hills on Wednesday.
He said the money would help the tourism group create a plan for the future.
“We already have the Silo Art Trail, but it could include another 12 more,” he said.
“The silos have been so successful in bringing bus loads of people to the region.
“We’ve got a number of them here now, but what it lacks is a proper co-ordinated strategy, so we are going to give $500,000 to Wimmera Mallee Tourism to develop an overarching plan and that will mean we are in a strong position to further support extra silos being done.
“It’s a small investment but it will make a powerful difference.
“Once the planning work is done, we will be able the bid for another dozen silos that councils and others in the community are keen to do.”
