The Bombers had a close call last week against Hawkesdale-Macarthur, and will not want to take the Eagles lightly either.
While Ararat has struggled to put too many wins on the board this season, they have been competitive each week and make it tough for the opposition, something the undefeated Bombers will be aware of after after an impressive first half saw the Eagles trail by just three goals in their match in round six.
Ararat’s Jordyn Leggett continues to put in solid work in defence this season for the Eagles and will be important to the team’s chances of getting the points in the round 14 match.
She will need to be at her best as she is likely to meet Michayla McRae or Stephanie Franklin in the circle.
McRae has been a consistent performer for the Bombers, with her strong grabs and creative play down the court. McRae is dynamic and versatile, playing in the circle as either a goalie or defender depending on the team’s needs.
Alana Jenkins was missing from Ararat’s line up last week but will return to the Eagles line-up for the clash with the Bombers to provide another target in goals.
Stacey Stewart was important for Penshurst last week against Hawkesdale-Macarthur with her competitive and smart game style.
The visitors will need to make sure they stick tight to their opponents and not allow the Bombers to have their own way down the court.
Eagles coach Alana Jenkins said the match will give the team an idea how far they have progressed this season.
“They are always everywhere and can get the ball no matter how high you pass it,” she said.
“We will be playing to win, but it comes down to how both teams play.
“I would hope that having our normal attacking and defending combinations will help
“We always like to keep our games as defensive, we need to minimise their chances in goal to be a chance.
Holly Leggett will likely miss the game with a thumb injury sustained in the Eagles round 13 match against the Pumas while Carly Croton will also miss the match against Penshurst.
Ararat have nothing to lose which could provide for an interesting contest if the Eagles can keep within reach of the Bombers on the scoreboard late in the game.
Match starts at 1pm.
Despite that, the Bombers will go into the match on their home court as heavy favourites and should be too strong across the board, getting the points and maintaining their undefeated record.
