The Hawks started strongly and quickly as they made their intentions clear from the first whistle.
Hawks’ Maggie Astbury had the Pies on the back foot from the beginning, shooting all 17 of her team’s goals for the quarter.
She has a great set of hands, taking strong grabs in the air and able to finish off in an accurate manner.
The Hawks enjoyed being able to pass the ball into Astbury, knowing she would be able to gain possession and then reward the team’s work down the court.
The Hawks led 17 goals to 6 at quarter time. Amanda McClelland was important in the centre for the Pies.
She was a key target down the court for her teammates to pass to as well as providing leadership and poise through the middle corridor.
Tatyoon continued to build upon their lead, having recorded 32 goals to 12 on the scoreboard at the halftime break.
Victoria Black worked hard for the Pies at goal keeper.
Black was tight on her opponent and whilst Astbury was dominating in the circle for the Hawks, Black was able to keep her opponent to just 12 goals for the game.
Tatyoon’s Simone King was making it difficult for the Pies to score.
She was able to take some great intercepts in the circle and further down the court, as well as create plenty of pressure on the ball to force errors by the Pies players.
The Hawks continued to push in the last quarter, eventually recording a solid 59-25 win against the Magpies.
