More than 150 people including riders and support teams converged on Dimboola Recreation Reserve on Sunday for an expo.
Hindmarsh Shire Council hosted the event, which saw students complete a 1.2-kilometre circuit and reach speeds up to 55 km/h.
Eight teams used 17 vehicles during the six-hour demonstration race.
Hindmarsh mayor Debra Nelson said she was impressed by the sportsmanship and teamwork shown.
“It is a great opportunity for us to attract a new event into small regional townships like Dimboola, with the potential to increase the visitor economy going forward,” she said.
“HPV racing is a fantastic sport for schools and community groups to be involved in.”
Cr Nelson said feedback from teams was overwhelmingly positive.
“Team managers spoke highly of the reserve as a suitable site for HPV and energy efficient vehicle racing,” she said.
“Suggestions and tips offered by the team managers will help council prepare for future events.”
Cr Nelson thanked everyone involved in setting up and running the event.
