Ararat Eagles v Glen-Dunkeld
A POOR third quarter cost the Eagles any chance of a second win of the season on Saturday when they played Glenthompson-Dunkeld.
The Rams put Ararat to the sword in the premiership quarter to extend its halftime lead by 44 points on the way to a 15.12 (102) to 7.10 (52) win.
Ararat would have considered itself in the contest up until halftime but could not find the required lift after the major break.
A five-goal-to-three last quarter was little more than consolation for the side after the game had already been blown out.
The Eagles could not find an answer for Chris McLeod, who was best on ground after kicking six goals.
Brent Bulger kicked four goals for Ararat. Zach Jenkins and Brohdie Smith were the side’s best players.
Great Western v Penshurst
IT WAS a tough trip to Penshurst for Great Western on Saturday, and an even tougher trip home.
The Lions were comprehensively beaten by the Bombers, 17.22 (124) to 1.5 (11). After a tough first quarter, things got worse for Great Western in the second despite the side kicking its only goal of the match.
At the other end the Bombers piled on 40 points to blow the margin out to 53 points by halftime.
Nicholas Dunford and Jayden McCartney were best on ground for the Lions, Shannon Notting kicking the sides’ goal. Jess Dalton bagged six goals for the Rams and Justin Eales was their best player.
