Great Western v Hawk-Macarthur
THE Lions were simply no match for the fifth-placed Hawkesdale-Macarthur.
A nine-goal opening quarter set the standard for the match that ended 18.20 (128) to 5.5 (35).
The home side continued to fight throughout the match and managed to stem the bleeding.
Innacurracy meant Hawkesdale-Macarthur scored only two goals in each of the second and fourth quarters but the end result was never in question.
Patrick Sinnot and Charles Nield kicked six and four goals respectively in the win.
Adam Bullock was best on ground for Great Western.
The Lions are tenth on the ladder and will have another opportunity for a win against Penshurt next round.
Ararat Eagles v Wick-Lake Bolac
ARARAT’S loss against Wickliffe-Lake Bolac came at a steadier pace during the round 10 game.
The Eagles struggled to hit the scoreboard as the Magpies romped to the 24.19 (163) to 5.2 (32).
Wickliffe-Lake Bolac were steady in the opening half before piling on nine goals in the third quarter to really open up the margin.
Rhys Otto kicked seven goals for the Magpies in the win and William Slattery contributed five of his own.
Zac Jenkins, Ned Hutchinson and Barlee Maxwell were best on ground for the Eagles.
The Eagles are last on the ladder after ten rounds with only one win to their names.
