The Ararat Rats were unable to stay with Nhill on the scoreboard for the full four quarters, as the Rats lost by 52 points at Davis Park on Saturday.

Accuracy in front of goal kept the visitors in the match early on, kicking four goals straight to go into quarter time within reach of the Tigers who kicked 5.5.35.

It was a similar scoreline in the second term with the Tigers outscoring the Rats by one goal to hold a 13-point lead at half time.

The second half was when the home team flexed its muscles, with the Rats unable to keep up with their opponents on the scoreboard.

The Rats slotted two majors in the third term but went into the final break trailing by 41 points.

The visitors could not get close to the Tigers and fell away, losing 12.10.82 to 20.14.134.

Tom Mills was one shining light for the Rats, finishing with five goals to continue his positive season. Alan Batchelor was named best on ground for the visitors.
