AFTER her 16th straight Horsham Golf Club ladies’ championship on Thursday Jenny McRae still just loves going out to play golf in a social atmosphere on a beautiful course.

“You can’t get any better place to go out and have a walk than on a golf course,” she said.
McRae’s 19th club championship was secured by shooting her lowest score in the 72-hole competition.
After shooting 81, 82 and 81 she finished by going around in 88. “I don’t know what was going on,” she said.
“It wasn’t the conditions but maybe all of us in the final group felt the pressure of a final round in the championships a little.”
McRae had less time for practice in the lead up to this year’s championships and was disappointed with her scores but happy to win.
“I love the challenge of playing golf,” she said.
“It can be very, very frustrating but also really rewarding.
“I just go out there to try to do the same thing every time.
“It’s quite difficult for me to win in regular competitions with our A Grade being from scratch to 18 handicaps, so I set my own little goals and challenges along the way.”
Tracey Hobbs came in second, 14-shots behind McRae with a gross score of 346 over the 72 holes.
McRae said Hobbs has the making of a future club champion.
“Obviously I get older each year and my body gets sorer,” she said.
“Playing with Tracey in the final round gave me the chance to watch someone I think will likely be a future champion.”
