The week kicked off on Friday and will run until June 3.
Wimmera Primary Care Partnership Koolin Balit project officer Felicity Johns said the week was about recognising Aboriginal cultures and its contribution to Australian life.
The week will feature a range of events in the Wimmera including a morning tea at GWMWater on Friday.
On Monday there will be Wotjobaluk dancers at Horsham Primary School and afternoon teas at the Department of Health and Human Services and Horsham College. On Tuesday there is an afternoon tea at the Centre for Participation.
Wednesday’s agenda includes a short film festival at Federation University and Goolum Goolum and Wimmera Catchment Management Authority’s bark canoe project.
Skillinvest will have a morning tea on Thursday, which will include a smoking ceremony.
Horsham Rural City Council will host an afternoon tea at the city’s Wesley Performing Arts Centre on Thursday.
The week will end on Friday with an open day and expo at Goolum Goolum.
The open day will include a range of activities and guest speakers.
Ms Johns said it was great to see such a range of events in the region.
“So many different agencies have contributed to the week in one way or another,” she said. “There are lots of things around morning tea, lunch time or afternoon tea so hopefully people can pop out from work.
“It’s important people come along to these events and show the Aboriginal community that we support them.”
