The Tigers side looked like it was ready to cause an upset on its home court early in the game. After trailing by four goals at quarter-time the side rattled off the opening three goals of the second quarter to trail by one.
From that point on the Demons dominated the quarter.
Nhill could only manage one more goal and the score at half-time was 25-13.
Tigers coach Tarrah Dodds said her side struggled to deliver the ball successfully into it goal ring again.
“I really can’t put it down to just one thing though,” she said.
“The movement through the middle of the court is generally good but we come up against strong defenders and struggle.”
Dodds challenged her team at half-time to continue to fight even though it looked out of the contest. “Historically the team might have dropped its head after falling behind,” Dodds said. “I’m proud the team continued to put in a competitive effort to stop the game really blowing out.”
The home-side opted to try a new combination in the second half as Brittany Keller moved to goal shooter to partner Emma Beer.
Defensively the Tigers did well to keep Horsham to its lowest score of the season.
“Emma Hawker really hit her straps and came away with lots of interceptions restricting and slowing down Emma Buwalda,” Dodds said.
“If we can continue working together well and improving then hopefully we can be a side that comes away with a few upsets in the second half of the season.”
