The first-year player who grew up playing for the Horsham Saints played his sixth game on Saturday in Brisbane’s loss to Hawthorn.
“It’s a young team which makes it easy to fit in with everyone,” he said.
“The club is heading in the right direction and has a strong base for the future.
“I wanted to make sure I was part of that and that is why I extended my contract.”
The extension was announced on Thursday. Lions general manager of football David Noble told the club’s website Berry is an exciting player with a desire to win contested footy.
“Jarrod is great to have around, has a positive attitude that contributes to the culture of our club,” Noble said.
Berry said he was starting to feel more comfortable at AFL level after a few games.
“The first couple of games were a bit of a blur,” he said. “The club has given me opportunities to grow.”
Berry said everyone at the club had been very welcoming but singled out captain Dayne Beams and Tom Rockliff as players that had helped him a lot.
“Dayne has taken a step up and has taken me under his wing as someone that plays the same position,” Berry said.
