Study investigates waste to bio-energy in Victoria

A study has been launched in Beaufort to investigate the potential of using waste products such as straw to create bioenergy fuel.

Backed by The City of Ballarat, Pyrenees Shire Council, Cultivate Agribusiness Central Highlands and a grower’s consortium, the results of a $60,000 feasibility study and business case will determine whether $3 million might be spent on the construction of a straw pellet plant in regional Victoria.

“This study is a great example of the collaboration between industry, government and local communities for the economic growth of the Central Highlands region and all of regional Victoria,” Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Victoria Danielle Green said.
