VicRoads requested the adjournment as it waits for planning permissions for construction to be re-issued.
It was revealed in November last year planning permits for the 12-kilometre section of the highway duplication had expired.
VicRoads Western Highway project director Nigel Powers said a request for an adjournment had been accepted.
“We have requested an adjournment of proceedings, to enable us to continue to work towards obtaining the appropriate planning permission for the duplication of the highway,” he said.
Legal counsel to the plantiffs Michael Kennedy said he could only speculate on the reason for the adjournment.
Work on the project has stopped while VicRoads re-applies for planning permission.
