Sergeant Sandra Marriner said the two vehicles were travelling too fast when approaching the intersection, one spun out of control and the other hit a tree.
Both drivers were charged with summons, with one influenced by alcohol.
Three people were taken to Stawell Regional Health and later released.
All occupants were visiting the area.
